Santa Float Will Feature Live Santa Tracker

Nov 17, 2015 01:43PM ● By Jeanne Fratello
When will the Manhattan Beach Santa float come to your block? Now you can find out the exact time, thanks to a new live Santa tracker that will tell residents precisely when the jolly red-suited guy and his entourage will pull up on their streets.

The Santa Tracker is just one of the new features that have been added this year as the Manhattan Beach Kiwanis Club took over operations for the Santa Float. Thanks to the efforts of current club president Michael Block and Santa Float chair Steve Carvel, there is also a new Manhattan Beach Santa Float website that lists the routes, along with the dates and the names of the organizations who will be assisting Santa on the various routes.

Santa will visit neighborhoods all across town from Monday, November 30 through Thursday, December 17 (Friday, December 18 will be used as a rain date if needed). Santa visits each neighborhood starting at 5:00 p.m. each night and stops at the middle of each block.

The live Santa tracker will be live online on those evenings to let residents know exactly where Santa is so they can figure out when he will get to their block.

Other contributing organizations to the float project include Kinecta Federal Credit Union, which provides the truck and driver that pulls the sleigh; the Manhattan Beach Coordinating Council, and the Manhattan Beach Volunteer Police Auxiliary, which keeps Santa safe and dry.

The Manhattan Beach Kiwanis Club was chartered in Manhattan Beach in 1956, and is a local chapter of an international service organization. Mira Costa Key Club is the sponsored youth program of the Manhattan Beach Kiwanis Club, which offers high school students an opportunity to perform service projects throughout the community and surrounding areas.

The Kiwanis Club is looking for new members who are interested in supporting children’s causes in the local community. The club meets the second Monday evening of the month, from 5:30-7:00 p.m., at Tin Roof Bistro in Manhattan Beach.  Anyone interested in learning more about Manhattan Beach Kiwanis Club, may contact President Mike Block ([email protected]), Steve Carvel ([email protected]), or DeAnn Chase ([email protected]).
