The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating effect on many households, from the beach cities, to Los Angeles County, and beyond.
While some at-risk families are managing to scrape by, others are struggling to secure even the most basic essentials of food, clothing, and shelter.
Given that Manhattan Beach has been known to give generously and rise to the occasion in times of the greatest need, here's a new call to action: Let's lead the way in helping those who are most affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
If you're able to give, you can start by contributing locally to the Beach Cities Health District's Beach Cities COVID-19
Fund. This fund aims to help income-qualified beach cities residents (Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Redondo Beach) with
essentials like groceries as well as household and cleaning supplies. To contribute, you may donate online or send a check to the Beach Cities
COVID-19 Fund, 1200 Del Amo Street, Redondo Beach, CA 90277.
Looking beyond the beach cities, consider working with the following organizations to help those in need in Los Angeles County and beyond:
California Community Foundation COVID-19 LA County Response Fund
United Way of Greater Los Angeles Pandemic Relief Fund
Los Angeles Regional Food Bank
World Health Organization COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund
There's also a great demand for blood donations right now. If you are able to give blood, or if you have recovered from COVID-19 and can give plasma, consider donating here:
Last but not least, if you or someone you know in the beach cities needs assistance with errands, health-related information or referrals, call the
Beach Cities Health District's Assistance, Information & Referral line at 310-374-3426, ext. 256,
seven days a week, from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., or or submit an online request here.
