After more than 32 years of being a fixture in the heart of Manhattan
Beach, BREWCO has announced its decision to close its doors.
In a statement, owner Michael Zislis said that while it has been a great 32-year run, it was time
for "something new" in that space.
Following the closure, the location will undergo a full renovation to
be transformed into an "elevated tavern," slated to open in early 2024.
The Zislis Group promises that the new venture will preserve the "spirit of
hospitality and community" that has defined the space for more than three
decades.
The new property will continued to be
managed by The Zislis Group Hospitality team.
Established
in 1991 as Manhattan Beach Brewing Company, the restaurant was Manhattan
Beach’s first brewpub. Through the years, it evolved to offer an extensive selection of craft beers, a full gastropub menu, and a renowned whiskey library. BREWCO currently offers 48
rotating taps and more than 50 beers available by the bottle.
The decision to close BREWCO was not made lightly, according to Zislis.
"We want to extend our deepest gratitude to all our patrons, staff, and friends who have supported us throughout the years," said Zislis. "BREWCO was my first restaurant endeavor and has truly been a labor of love. While it's a bittersweet moment for us, we're excited about the future and the opportunity to introduce a new, exciting concept to the community."
BREWCO's last day of operation will be October 15th,
2023.
