Oct 06, 2023 07:35AM ● By Mb News Staff
In the wake of the tragic death of MBPD Officer Chad Swanson on Wednesday morning, Manhattan Beach will hold a community candlelight vigil in his honor on Friday, October 6 at 6:30 p.m. The vigil will begin at Civic Center Plaza (outside City Hall and the Manhattan Beach police and fire stations) and a procession to the Manhattan Beach Pier will follow.

“This is a time for us to come together as a community, mourn the loss of our friend and colleague, show our support to Officer Swanson’s family, and honor the legacy and bravery of Officer Chad Swanson,” said MBPD Chief Rachel Johnson in a statement.

Officer Swanson is survived by his wife and three young children. The Manhattan Beach Police Officers’ Association (MBPOA) has created a donation fund for the Swanson family via the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC) Fund a Hero Program.
