According to a statement from the Manhattan Beach Police Department, a suspect has been arrested in connection with an attempted murder in the early morning hours on Saturday.

The police statement reads as follows:

"On October 14th, 2023 at approximately 1:17 am, Officers were dispatched to the Vons Market
parking lot regarding a shooting that just occurred. The investigation revealed a female subject
and a male subject involved in a dating relationship were parked together in a vehicle
somewhere by the beach. An argument escalated at which time the male subject produced a
handgun and shot the female in the lower abdomen. The female was transported to Harbor
General Hospital where she underwent surgery and is currently in stable condition. The male
subject was placed under arrest for attempted murder. The investigation is still ongoing. Please

The suspect has been identified as Ahmyae Uriah Barner, 21, of Long Beach. The victim has not been identified.
