A memorial run is planned for Sunday to honor local gym owner and community leader Cedric Jones, who passed away suddenly on October 16 at age 46. Jones is survived by his wife, Barbie, and three young children.

Jones was the owner of Beastie Gym in Manhattan Beach and was the founder of the BMoved Foundation, which works to guide underprivileged young men from their formative years into young adulthood. He was also an actor with multiple film credits including the 2015 movie Southpaw.

While pursuing his acting career, he was homeless at one point. In recognition to those who helped him, he resolved to give back to those less fortunate. He was widely known for his outreach to the most vulnerable communities; visiting detention centers and shelters, and feeding the homeless during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sunday's event will begin at noon at Beastie Gym with a small ceremony, followed by a run down to the Manhattan Beach Pier. Attendees are asked to wear black and white.

GoFundMe and a Meal Train has been established to support Jones' family.

The Manhattan Beach City Council held a brief moment of silence at its October 17 meeting in Jones' memory.
