Here's a Boring But Extremely Useful Story About Holiday Schedules

Holiday schedules and closures aren't exactly the kind of news that grabs you... but you probably want to know about them anyway.

So, for Thanksgiving week in Manhattan Beach:

Trash Pickup: Residential trash collection will be delayed by one day during Thanksgiving week. Thursday's route will be collected on Friday and Friday's route will be collected on Saturday.  (Contact Waste Management online or call them at (310) 830-7100 for questions.)

Street Sweeping: Street sweeping will not take place on November 23, Thanksgiving Day, and will not be made up. All other sweeping days that week will operate on a normal schedule and route. The police department will not be ticketing for street sweeping purposes on Thanksgiving Day. (Contact Athens Services online or call them at (888) 336-6100 for questions.)

City Hall: Manhattan Beach City Hall will be closed both Thursday and Friday of Thanksgiving week.

Construction: Construction will not be allowed on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. No inspections will be conducted.

Post Office: U.S. post offices will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, and there will be no regular mail delivery on that day (except for Holiday Premium Priority Mail Express and Sunday/Holiday Same Day Package Delivery). (See USPS for more information.)

Library: The Manhattan Beach Library (and all Los Angeles County libraries) will be closed both Thursday and Friday of Thanksgiving week. (See L.A. County Libraries for more information.)

Begg Pool: The pool will be closed Thanksgiving Day (except for the Masters group from 6:00 to 7:00 a.m.). It will open again on Friday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Joslyn and Manhattan Heights Community Centers: The community centers will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Manhattan Beach Art Center and Live Oak Park Ceramics Studio: Both art areas will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Sand Dune Park: Sand Dune Park will close at noon on Thanksgiving and will go back to normal business hours on Friday.

Tennis/Pickleball: Manhattan Beach tennis and pickleball courts will be open for drop-in play (i.e., no reservations available) until 5:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Normal reservations will be available on Friday but courts wiill close at 5:00 p.m. (Note that the courts will be closed for the city-wide Pickleball Turkey Tournament on Saturday and Sunday.)
