Here's your chance to support Manhattan Beach CHOICE, a unique program serving young adults with special needs as they transition between high school and adulthood, at their pop-up shop on Tuesday.

The pop-up shop - featuring gifts and crafts made by the young adults in the program - will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Lazy Acres in Hermosa Beach. The students have created chip clips, magnets, ornaments, mulling spices, coasters, and more. (The sale will be cash only and smaller bills are preferred.)

The CHOICE adult transition program is geared toward young adults aged 18-22 who have completed high school and are preparing for the future. It provides real-world work experience, vocational training, and life skills to the students.

There are 17 students enrolled in the program this year, according to coordinator Lareina Rodriguez. The program has served approximately 40 students since it started in 2015.

The CHOICE  program is part of public school special education services provided through Manhattan Beach Unified School District. Additional funding has come from grants, donations, and fundraising. Longtime partners include the city of Manhattan Beach, downtown Manhattan Beach businesses, the Zislis Group, and LA Car Guy.
