Early Morning New Year's Shooting Results In Critical Injury

The intersection of 11th and Peck in East Manhattan Beach was shut down with police activity for the greater part of the day on New Year's Day.

UPDATE 1/4/24: The man has died from his injuries, and the investigation has been taken over by the L.A. County Sheriff Department's Homicide Bureau. 

A man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries following a shooting in East Manhattan Beach in the early morning hours of New Year's Day.

The assault occurred in the area of 11th and Peck Ave. in East Manhattan Beach. Police shut down the intersection for an investigation during the greater part of the day on Monday, opening up the street just before 5:00 p.m. on January 1.

One house at the intersection is known as the site of frequent police activity as well as repeated complaints from neighbors. "The cops are there every week for something," one neighbor told MB News.

According to Manhattan Beach Police Department, MBPD officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of 11th Street at 1:23 a.m. on Sunday following reports of a shooting. MBPD officers located one adult male suffering from a gunshot wound, down on the street.

The victim was transported to Harbor General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. According to MBPD, this was not believed to be a random attack, although police are still investigating.
