BREWCO Closes in Preparation for 'Complete Transformation'

BREWCO has officially closed - for real this time - until it opens again as a "reimagined" restaurant.
Unlike last fall, when BREWCO announced that it was closing, and then just as quickly reopened, this closure appears to be serious. The front of the restaurant on Manhattan Beach Blvd. is now covered in scaffolding while signs announce a "new look" coming soon.
"After 33 years, BREWCO is undergoing a complete transformation and will
soon unveil its exciting new identity as a vibrant coastal kitchen," Jenna Record, vice president of marketing for the Zislis Group told MB News, adding "Keep
an eye out for the grand reveal on May 1st."
Record said that in its new incarnation, it will still be called BREWCO, but "it will be reimagined."
Established
in 1991 as Manhattan Beach Brewing Company, the restaurant was Manhattan
Beach’s first brewpub. Its location - just steps from the Manhattan Beach Pier - was popular among both local and tourist crowds. Through the years, it evolved to offer an
extensive selection of craft beers, a full gastropub menu, and a
renowned whiskey library. By the time it closed its doors last week, BREWCO had been offering 48
rotating taps and more than 50 beers available by the bottle.
Back in September, when the decision to close BREWCO was first announced, owner Mike Zislis
said that the decision was not made lightly.

friends who have supported us throughout the years," said Zislis. "BREWCO was my first restaurant endeavor and has truly been a
labor of love. While it's a bittersweet moment for us, we're excited
about the future and the opportunity to introduce a new, exciting
concept to the community."
BREWCO is part of the Zislis Group's family of restaurants, including the Strand House and Zinc@Shade.
