Attention high schoolers: The Manhattan Beach Youth Council, a one-year professional development program for youth, is recruiting local students for its 2024/25 class.

The MBYC aims to expose young adults to a variety of careers and professions, and to inspire students to pursue their interests. The program, which begins next September and runs through April 2025, is open to sophomore, junior, and senior high school students who live or attend high school in the city of Manhattan Beach.

Each monthly workshop focuses on a different career area and includes guest speakers who share their professional and personal journeys, offer advice, and share words of wisdom. Students are then challenged to apply what they learn from speakers toward solving real challenges and creating breakthroughs.

Past workshop topics have included architecture and design, investment management, mock trial and legal careers, sports journalism and entertainment, STEM and surfing, digital marketing, and the music industry.

Applications are now available at mb-yc.com and will run until 80 applications are received or through March 31. Interviews will take place on Saturday, April 20 and Thursday, April 25. Applicants will receive an email after spring break with instructions on how to sign up for their interview. The new class will be notified at the beginning of May.

The MBYC is run by the MB/X Foundation.
