On May 12, they will join nearly 2,500 law enforcement officers from throughout the country who will bicycle along varying routes, each nearly 300 miles, to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC.
The experience will culminate on May 13, when more than 50,000 people will gather at the National Law Enforcement Memorial Candlelight Vigil. During the ceremony, the names of every officer who died in the line of duty during 2023 will be read and his/her name officially added to the memorial, which already contains the names of more than 23,410 fallen heroes.
Each member must raise approximately
$2,100 in order to participate in the tour. Of that amount, the Police Unity Tour will
donate $1,000 to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund and the remaining $1,100 will cover support services, ground
transportation, overnight lodging, and food for the ride.
Since
its inception in 1997, the Police Unity Tour has raised more than
$34 million to support the memorial. Donations to
the Police Unity Tour are tax deductible.
