City leaders and crowds of shoppers gathered at the Manhattan Beach Farmers' Market on Tuesday as the market celebrated its 19th anniversary.

In its nearly two decades, the market has become a central part of the downtown fabric, drawing both residents and visitors for its collection of fresh produce and artisan foods.

"For 19 years, the Manhattan Beach Farmers' Market has been a cornerstone of our downtown—fresh, reliable, and always there when you need it," said Kelly Stroman, the executive director of the Downtown Manhattan Beach Business & Professional Association. "It’s become a community staple, just like your favorite pantry items—something you count on, week after week, and the perfect place to connect with friends."

On Tuesday, the market gifted its vendors - many of whom have been part of the market for more than a decade - with bagels, cookies from Beckers Bakery, and the choice of a commemorative apron or hat. Vendors who have been with the market for more than 10 years sported bright orange ribbons.

The market began with just 30 vendors and now features more than 50. The booths offer locally grown produce, specialty ranchers, sustainably sourced seafood and fish, handcrafted breads and pastries, and artisanal ready-to-eat foods; as well as live music and community booths.

In 2024, the market moved from 13th Street to Civic Center Plaza, between City Hall and the Police/Fire Department complex, to make room for reconstruction of the city's Parking Lot 3.

The Manhattan Beach Farmers' Market runs every Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
