Can you donate some diapers? The Manhattan Beach Police Department is seeking diaper donations to go to Camp Pendleton families.

During the diaper drive, the department is also engaged in a friendly competition with other local law enforcement agencies and is hoping to "win" by collecting the most diapers.

MBPD is welcoming donations of diapers from now through January 17 at its front desk lobby. (The Manhattan Beach Police Department is located at 420 15th Street.)

According to the diaper drive organizers, there are more than 70,000 Marines at Camp Pendleton and 10,000 children under the age of five; with more than 160 babies born there each month. Most families arrive with whatever they can fit in their car, and with a very low income, most do not have everything they need for newborns and small children.

The diaper drive was originally launched by the Gardena Police Department and Rotary District 5280.

This is not the first time there has been a local donation drive for Camp Pendleton families. In 2022, the Manhattan Beach Rotary and Kinecta led a drive for diapers and items for families with babies and young children. The items are collected at the "Warrior Warehouse," where families are able to come in and select what they need.
