What's Hot in MB Real Estate (8/7/14)

Aug 07, 2014 02:34PM ● By Mb News Staff
It's never a surprise to see big dollars on The Strand. This is MB's prime real estate, every single home boasting unobstructable ocean views. (Unless you worry about fog.)

Still, this year, new heights are being hit along The Strand.

A nice corner lot at 1700 The Strand (left photo) has sold for $16.0M, far and away the biggest price paid for a simple plot of dirt anywhere in MB. (The off-market sale closed in mid-July.)
Let's say that again: Sixteen million American dollars.

Now we see the highest-ever public asking price for dirt: 104 The Strand is on the MLS asking $13.9M.

What's more remarkable is that 104 The Strand (right photo) was just purchased for $9.5M in February this year.

The highest prices paid in recent years for Strand properties were each near $11M, one for a newer home (3300 The Strand at $10.995M in Feb. 2013) and one for an architecturally significant 1980s modern (1600 The Strand at $10.9M in April 2011).

So now we see people asking – and paying – more just for land.
