MB News was founded in 2014 as DigMB.com. The website name changed in 2022.
Editor Jeanne Fratello is a longtime journalist and writer, and a dedicated volunteer in Manhattan Beach school and civic activities.
Before moving to California, she worked as a reporter in Washington D.C. from 1990-1997, covering Congress and education policy. In California, she worked from 1998-2014 as a speechwriter for the chancellor of the 23-campus California State University system - and rejoined the system as director of integrated internal communications in 2023. She is also a food writer and author of the food blog Jolly Tomato. She is active on social media, having served as a social media ambassador for attractions such as Terranea Resort and for well-known food brands such as Dole. In both 2021 and 2023, she was selected as one of only a handful of American food writers and influencers to travel through Italy as a guest of the Italian tomato growers and flour growers associations. Her freelance writing has appeared in such diverse publications as the Huffington Post, CBS LA, Runner's World, and Epicurious.com.
In the Manhattan Beach schools, she served on multiple PTA boards and the District Advisory Council. For four years she chaired the district-wide MBUSD Communications Committee. She is also a regular volunteer at the Manhattan Beach Farmers' Market, where you can find her at the manager's booth almost every Tuesday afternoon.
MB News is published as a service to the community by Jeanne and Dave Fratello, a local realtor with Edge Real Estate Agency.
Dave, who loves news and writing almost as much as he loves real estate, is also the author of the popular and long-running local real estate blog MB Confidential.
