MB/HB Junior Little Leaguers Win 1st Game in World Series

The 2014 West Region Junior Little League champions are from Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach Little Leagues and are playing in the World Series in Taylor, Michigan.

Wyatt Robb went 3-3 at the plate as a Manhattan Beach/Hermosa Beach Junior Little League team (representing the West) took home an 8-7 victory over Southeast in seven innings at Taylor, Michign on Saturday. A team from Rutherfordton, North Carolina represented the Southeast.

Joey Acosta worked out of four tough spots for the West, pitching five innings and allowing one earned run on four hits. Acosta faced his most difficult moment in the sixth inning.

Joshua Searcy got a hit in each of his two at bats, singling in the first and third innings.

Cameron Snethen lasted two-thirds of an inning on the bump for Southeast before the call to the bullpen. Snethen surrendered one hit and four runs.

In the bottom of the first, the MB/HB boys grabbed an early lead, 4-0. Chris Penna started the rally for the West team with a single. West pushed more runs across when Acosta scored on a walk by Robb, Locke-Henderson scored on a bases loaded walk by Snethen, and Storey scored on a walk by Garrett Auville.

The MB/HB team answered the Southeast team's top inning with one run of its own in the fourth. West scored on an RBI double by Robb.
