A Manhattan Beach Summer: Jr. Lifeguards, Beach Volleyball, Concerts, Surfing, Movies, Gala Benefits, and More

Sep 12, 2014 04:32PM ● By Mb News Staff
Summer in Manhattan Beach means Junior Lifeguards, surf camp, concerts in the park, philanthropic events, outdoor movies, and getting out and about.

This summer, a Junior Little League All-Stars team comprised of players from Manhattan Beach Little League and Hermosa Beach Little League nearly won the World Series, giving it their all and coming close in Taylor, Michigan.
And a Senior Little League All-Stars team from MBLL was just one victory shy of going to their World Series.
Of course, kids participated in Junior Lifeguards, all sorts of camps, and an outdoor Movie Night or two (or three).
Concerts in the Park, picnics, trips to the farmers market (which celebrated its 8th anniversary), beach volleyball, the International Surf Festival, and spectacular benefit galas, including Walk With Sally's "White Night, White Light" and Growing Great's "Farm to Table" gala, made summertime for the community even more fun.

The City of Manhattan Beach also went smoke-free in all public places, the Los Angeles Kings mascot Bailey showed up at the farmers market, and juvenile great white sharks hung out in our coastal waters.
The Charlie Saikley 6-Man put amateurs and former and current pro athletes together on the sand, the International Surf Festival brought a slew of surf and sea competitions, and the Manhattan Beach Open AVP Tour was another great event.

Here are some photos from summer. Email yours to [email protected] if you'd like them added to the photo gallery.
