Manhattan Beach Pumpkin Races 2014

Oct 27, 2014 06:47PM ● By Dig Mb Staff
Contestants for the annual Manhattan Beach Pumpkin Race piled in from all over the South Bay area as the line to enter the qualifying races grew bigger and bigger. While the turnout was still pretty large, it didn't seem as hectic as it's been in previous years. We did notice a growing number of "cheaters" this year, where many attempts were made to enter the race with disguised  watermelons, cantaloupes and pumpkins injected with water to add more weight. Those that were caught were summoned to a public smashing with the large mallet followed by disqualification. Either way, it was all light-hearted fun and added to the entertainment.
