Sandpipers Holiday Gift Baskets
Speaking of Sandpipers and their good works, just yesterday (Saturday, Dec. 13) the organization delivered holiday baskets to financially struggling families, in an effort to provide them with basic necessities, gifts and hope because others care. The holiday baskets have been an annual tradition since Sandpipers began in 1931, making this 83 years of holiday giving to those in need. Sandpipers members delivered baskets to 100 families in the South Bay, with each basket holding an average value of $900 in basic household goods, shoe certificates for more than 270 children, toys and other gifts. Sandpipers’ members, Sandpiper Juniors, Amigos and Manhattan Beach Rotarians volunteer their time to gather and wrap the gifts, and them deliver them.Holiday Jesters Perform
Join in a spirited sing-along and be entertained by a holiday program of monologues and short scenes by the Joslyn Jesters today (Sunday, Dec. 14) at the Joslyn Community Center, 1601 N. Valley Drive in Manhattan Beach, beginning at 2 p.m. Admission and refreshments are free.
