TV Reporter Serene Branson Awarded "I Heart MB" Honor

Serene Branson, a reporter for CBSLA and KCAL 9, received Mayor Wayne Powell's "I Heart MB" award at Tuesday night's City Council meeting.
Said the mayor, "Serene is a Manhattan Beach resident who has represented our community in an exemplary manner, having achieved several prestigious journalism awards, including an Emmy, as a news anchor and reporter.
"She helped our community when she interviewed me two years ago for my SOS (Save Our Sand) campaign that successfully prevented Broad Beach (Malibu) residents from taking 500,000 cubic yards of pristine offshore Manhattan Beach sand."
Branson was on hand to accept her honor.
Now is his second term as mayor, Powell's "I Heart MB" award honors "the many outstanding people, places and organizations that make Manhattan Beach the community we all love!" His first term as mayor ran from May 1, 2012 to February 19, 2013; his current mayorship runs until July 7, 2015.
Past "I Heart MB" award recipients include Maria Sharapova and Mary Beth McDade, among others.
