The Manhattan Beach Neptunian Woman’s Club's 2014 South Bay Chili Cook Off in November raised $22,086.39 for the Manhattan Beach Firefighters’ Burn Foundation, according to a city press release.
“The Neptunian Woman’s Club is proud of our city’s fire department and is dedicated to helping our fire professionals by supporting their valuable programs,” said Elaine Trotter, president of the club.
Sponsored by the Neptunians and hosted by firefighters at Manhattan Beach Fire Station 1, the event launched a new fundraising avenue for the women's organization, which has previously donated funds for paramedical school tuition scholarships for the City of Manhattan Beach Fire Department’s Volunteer Fire Reserve Program.
Steve Fairbrother of the MB Fire Association told club members he hopes this year's event becomes an annual one. Fairbrother made the remarks the the club's holiday luncheon earlier this month.
“The Neptunian Woman’s Club is proud of our city’s fire department and is dedicated to helping our fire professionals by supporting their valuable programs,” said Elaine Trotter, president of the club.
Funds raised from the Chili Cook Off will be used to help families and individuals in need of financial and emotional support following a tragic event that results in care and treatment for burns.
