Jan 05, 2015 08:53PM ● By Mb News Staff

Completely Pickled brings its locally-made fare to the MB Farmers Market.

As always, there's a lot going on in Manhattan Beach. Here are five things to look into:
  1. What do you like about downtown Manhattan Beach? Do you like the independent merchants who bring a unique vibe to our beachside downtown? On Monday, Jan. 12 from 6-8 p.m. at the Joslyn Community Center, community members can make an impact on the downtown area's future by attending a public reception at which the city-hired Urban Land Institute will take input on what residents envision their future downtown to look like. A five-member advisory panel from ULI will spend time in Manhattan Beach to assess what people want their downtown to be. Then, on Friday, Jan. 16 from 9-11:30 a.m. at Joslyn Community Center, the ULI panel will present their findings.
  2. Download and print this flyer and take it with you when you eat at Johnny Rockets in January, and the Manhattan Beach location will donate 15% of your bill to Manhattan Beach Middle SchoolAccording to a post on the MBMS website, "Every 10 days there will be a raffle prize.  Prizes include a Spectrum Club Pool Party & (2) Bday Parties hosted by Johnny Rockets."
  3. Completely Pickled will debut tomorrow (Tuesday, Jan. 6) at the Manhattan Beach Farmers Market so stop by to check out the menu, which includes spicy pickles, garlic pickles, pickled jalapenos, pickled green tomatoes, pickled brussels sprouts, pickled asparagus, pickled green beans and Krazy Kraut.
  4. Olympic swimmers Rebecca Soni and Ariana Kukors will be at Bacchus Wines on Wednesday, Jan. 7 from 6:30-8 p.m. for a fun and informative night of wine and wellness. The two will talk about healthy living and offer some great smoothie ideas, according to a post on Facebook.
  5. The city is moving closer to having a skatepark. At the Tuesday, Jan. 6 City Council meeting, council may approve the hiring of a contractor to provide Skate Park Planning Services
