Valentine's Day Dining Round-Up

Looking for a Valentine's Day dinner with that special someone? Or looking to get away from all of the whole romantic scene? There's something for everyone this Valentine's Day in Manhattan Beach, whether you're part of a couple, traveling solo, or part of a crowd. Here's a sampling of options from around town:

Fishing With Dynamite - Fishing with Dynamite is featuring a "Love Boat" chilled seafood platter for two, one of several special dishes to be served in addition to the restaurant's regular a la carte menu on February 14. The "Love Boat" includes six oysters, two Peruvian scallops, four shrimp cocktail, and 1/2 pound king crab ($48).

MB Post - MB Post is adding a selection of romantic classics to its regular menu for Valentine's Day, including Classic Coq Au Vin For Two with Neuske's bacon, heirloom carrots, hen of the wood mushrooms ($32); and passion fruit parfait with Valrhona dark chocolate and macadamia nuts ($6).

The Strand House - On Friday and Saturday nights (Feb. 13 and 14) Chef Greg Hozinsky is preparing a four-course Valentine's Dinner for $100/person plus additional wine pairings for $50/person. The menu includes a seafood tower for two; spot prawn "scampi" with black garlic; whole roasted loup de mer or Chateaubriand; and strawberries and Champagne or Valhrona chocolate souffle.

Strand Bar at The Strand House - If romantic dinners aren't your speed, the Strand Bar is hosting "Love Rocks" with 80s cover band Radio Rebels for a $20 cover on Valentine's Day. Radio Rebels will play from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.; a DJ will spin tunes from 10 p.m. until close.

The Rockefeller Gastropub - Dining as a group? The Rockefeller is offering 50% off the first bottle of Veuve Champagne for the first six reservations for parties of six or more on February 14.

Lido di Manhattan - Lido di Manhattan is offering a "Sweetheart Valentine's Dinner" featuring jazz vocalist & pianist Tatiana & Steve. The 4-course dinner is $79 per person; an optional wine pairing is $40 per person. Menu choices are available here.

Barsha Wines and Spirits - Barsha is offering a special Valentine's week chocolate and wine tasting. For $19 you get a dessert wine flight, chocolate truffles from Food by Emily, chocolate ice cream from Jeni’s, and s'mores. The tasting is available from February 10 through 14 from 4 p.m. until close.

Love & Salt - Chef Michael Fiorelli is offering "Labor of Love" specials, featuring items that take a little extra love to prepare, from 5:30 to 11:00 p.m. on February 14. Sample menu items include ricotta agnolotti with parmesan broth, wilted escarole, and little rabbit meatballs ($18); as well as a "Bloody Valentine" featuring muddled blood orange, mint, gin, St. Germain, simple syrup, and orange bitters ($13).

Shade Hotel - Enjoy "Fifty Shades in the Courtyard" at Shade Hotel's Zinc Restaurant on Valentine's Day: Chef Chris Garasic will prepare a special 3-course dinner for $50 per person; seatings are available at 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.

Sharkeez: Feeling down on the whole Valentine's Day thing? Sharkeez is offering an "Anti-Valentine's Day Mardi Gras" party on February 12. Activities include a Best Dressed contest, an alligator taco-eating contest, and more, with prizes totaling $500. Selected drinks are $3 from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.
