They are all inside the Special Olympics Circle of Inclusion.

Fifteen years to the day after she opened Tabula Rasa Essentials in downtown Manhattan Beach, Owner Maureen McBride welcomed friends and guests to her new store Yorktown, a mere two doors down from Tabula Rasa.

The store, named after her childhood home in New York, brings together local artisans and Fair Trade goods to give shoppers a unique experience. Guest Patrick Chevalier told DigMB.com the shop evoked the feeling of New England, a place he once lived and loves.

For Maureen, the evening marked two monumental occasions: the 15-year anniversary of Tabula Rasa and yet another new beginning for the former fashion industry professional. She called out her team who "worked endlessly and tirelessly" and talked about the new shop, which features home decor items, including furniture.

"It's like this is my house, it's your house, and I want you to love this as much as you've loved Tabula Rasa," she said, thanking all who have patronized and supported her Tabula Rasa since it opened in 2000.

"Where Tabula Rasa was all about my new beginnings in my career after the fashion industry, this is all about my whole new beginning and everything that I've been able to do.

The evening included appetizers from Old Venice - Greek & Italian Cuisine and the not-yet-open The Arthur J and special libations. Guests included Mike Zislis, Mike Simms, Doug Lemen, Darryl Sutter, Chris Sutter, Mary Ann Varni, Chef David LeFevre, Oliver Sehulster, Rebo McFadden, Noelle Parks, Dawn Dafgek, Tiffany Mesko and others.

Ten percent of sales from the store's opening weekend are earmarked to go toward the Host Town programs for the Special Olympics World Games this summer. Manhattan Beach is a host town.
