Manhattan Beach Little All-Stars Win District 36 Championship

A Manhattan Beach Little League All-Stars team has claimed the District 36 championship title, winning its first four post-season games. The team now moves on to the next tournament in Westchester this Sunday, July 12 at 6:30 p.m.
According to coach Anthony Wall, the team of 11- and 12-year olds has outscored its opponents with 50 runs, allowing only 15. MBLL beat Lunada Bay 10-0, Palos Verdes 9-6, Redondo Beach 13-2, and Palos Verdes 18-7 last Thursday (July 2nd) to win the tournament.
Jonah Storey led the team's strong pitching efforts with contributions from Andrew Beserra and Kyle Karros. Jonah Storey, Kyle Karros, Max Gordon, Anthony Powell, Kalani Rusher, and Jake Wall hit home runs in the tournament. The team boasted solid hitting across the board with a team total of 51 hits.
In the District 36 game against PV, the team delivered, with explosive offensive hitting and solid defensive plays.
"Every player has played a significant role in contributing to this first round tournament victory," said Wall.
Other teams in the tournament were from Rolling Hills, Hermosa Beach, El Segundo, and Silver Spur Little Leagues. The tournament began on Saturday, June 20 at the baseball fields at Marine Avenue Park in Manhattan Beach.
