The Manhattan Beach Little League Junior All-Stars team defeated a team from Conjeo Valley 8-0 Wednesday night in sub division tournament play in Brea. Merrick Baldo, Evan Voss and Everett Smith combined pitching arms for a four-hit shutout.
The team has great depth, says Manager Keith Ramsey. "Our bench of James Park, Matt Devico, and Cooper Sutherland contributed 4 RBIs and Jake Gordon had 3 hits," he told DigMB.com.
The team's next game is Saturday, July 25 at 10 a.m. against the winner of a game between teams from Golden Hills and Chino.
The Junior All-star team represents MB and Hermosa Beach Little Leagues; Coaches are Matt Sugarman and Jackson Morrow.
The Junior League Baseball Division is a program for boys and girls ages 12-14, using a conventional 90-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 60 feet, 6 inches. All-Star teams play post-season, competing to make it to the Junior League Baseball World Series, featuring teams from around the world.
