In yet another find showing, the Manhattan Beach Little League Senior All-Stars are two games away from making it to the Senior League Baseball World Series. To keep the dream alive, the boys have to post a victory today (Sunday, July 26) when they take on a team from Arizona at 6 p.m. at Jay Littleton Ball Park in Ontario, CA.
The MBLL team took their first post-season loss Saturday to the Regional Tournament host team from Chino National Saturday, going down 13-6. MBLL was up 6-1 until the bottom of the 4th inning when China scored 5 runs to tie the game at 6.
Chino then scored 6 runs in the bottom of the 5th and one in the 6th to end the game, 13-6.
MBLL had 9 hits to Chino's 17. Jason Schwartz went for 1-1 in the effort, hitting in a run. Nathan Nykaza batted 2-3 and hit in 2 runs; Rollie Nichols went 2-4 and batted in 2 runs.
If they win Sunday, the team will play the winner of a game that pits host town Chino National against a team from Hawaii.
In three of the past four years, the team has made it to the Regional finals. In 2010, the team made it to the World Series.
