Boys from Manhattan Beach Little League gave it a valiant effort but couldn't overcome a tough Sweetwater Valley team, losing 18-5 Sunday night in a "best of 3" series for the Southern California Championship in All-Stars competition.
Sweetwater's second win over MB sent then packing for a trip to the Little League West Regional Tournament in San Bernardino.
The loss was only MBLL's third, and capped an incredible run for the team, marking the first time in the 50+ history of MBLL that a team in the 9- to 12-year-old range made it to the SoCal Championship Series.
Coach Anthony Wall called it a "good run," "lots of fun," and "quite an accomplishment given the number of teams out there."
"We were one of the last four teams in all of California," he said.
Congratulations to these youngsters for their exceptional run and display of teamwork and resilience!
