White Light White Night Lights Up The Night

Aug 24, 2015 09:14PM ● By Jeanne Fratello
The 9th annual White Light White Night benefit - a fundraiser for the cancer support organization Walk With Sally - drew a large and enthusiastic crowd on Saturday night.

The event, held on the rooftop deck at the Plaza at Continental Park in El Segundo, attracted hundreds of local and celebrity supporters - despite being rescheduled following a rain cancellation from last month.

Guests enjoyed live music from Neil Diamond tribute band Super Diamond as well as gourmet bites from more than 20 restaurants, specialty cocktails, a local craft beer garden, and boutique wine garden.

Featured Manhattan Beach eateries included Fresh Brothers Pizza, Lido di Manhattan Restaurant & Catering, Doma Kitchen, Petros, Cake Bake Shop, The Strand House, Rock'n Fish, Four Daughters Kitchen, and Pitfire Artisan Pizza.

Attendees included Manhattan Beach Mayor Mark Burton, fitness guru Denise Austin, Dallas Cowboys player James Anderson, celebrity chef Devin Alexander, former San Diego Charger and motivational speaker Tyree Anderson, Zislis Group founder Mike Zislis, and cast members from "The Bold and the Beautiful."

The Beacon of Light Award, which honors individuals who give above and beyond year after year to help grow Walk With Sally’s mission, was presented to Todd Klawin of Our Media Group, LLC and South Bay Magazine.

Maureen McBride of Tabula Rasa won the Lifetime Friendship Award with her mentee Izzy.

At the annual celebration, guests are asked to wear all white in honor of Walk With Sally's founder Nick Arquette's mother Sally.
According to the Walk With Sally organization, Sally Arquette was diagnosed with cancer while Nick was growing up and believed in the healing power of the color white. Throughout the world the symbolism of the color white claims to stimulate a person's own divine nature into healing one's self, known as the "White Light of Healing and Protection." In honor of that belief, Walk With Sally invites guests to come together on a beautiful summer night to celebrate hope, healing, and everyone that has come to battle cancer.

Walk With Sally is a non-profit based in Los Angeles and is committed to providing healing and comfort to children debilitated by the emotional experience of living with or losing a parent or sibling to cancer. This healing is facilitated through free of charge mentoring support programs and services that provide an emotionally safe environment for children to share their difficult experience with someone who has suffered the same.
