Get Your Pumpkin Racecar Kits Now

Dreaming of winning it all at the Manhattan Beach Great Pumpkin Race this year? It's not too early to start designing and building your super-charged pumpkin. Pumpkin racecar kits are now available for purchase through the City of Manhattan Beach Parks and Recreation Department.
Each racecar kit will include 2 axels, 4 wheels, 4 spacers, 4 wing nuts, instructions and official rules. (You supply whichever pumpkin you think will be most aerodynamic.)
The kits can be purchased at the Parks and Recreation Department located in Manhattan Beach City Hall, 1400 Highland Avenue, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
On weekends, the kits may be purchased at the Live Oak Tennis Office, 1901 North Valley Drive. Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Please note that staff will only be available to sell kits from the quarter till the hour until the quarter after the hour (i.e. 9:45 AM to 10:15 AM, 10:45 AM to 11:15 AM, etc.)
The 25th Annual World Famous Pumpkin Race Festival will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at the Manhattan Pier beginning at noon. This hometown tradition involves racing super-charged pumpkins (mounted on wheels and axels) careening down Manhattan Beach Blvd. toward the Manhattan Beach Pier. It's a fun, family-friendly event that encourages ingenuity, camaraderie, and friendly neighborhood competitions.
If you wait until the last minute, never fear: You may also purchase a kit on the day of the race, while supplies last. If you purchase a kit at the festival, it will also include a medium-sized pumpkin.
