'Nightmare Before Christmas' Light Show Moves to 18th Street

"The Nightmare Before Christmas" light show, a popular neighborhood tradition created by the Zipperman family, will take place this year at 1625 18th Street.
The show, an astonishingly high-end display of lights, characters, and music, is known for attracting neighbors and families from all over Manhattan Beach. The Zippermans have run the show for the past six years on Palm Avenue, but this year they are creating the show at a temporary location on 18th Street.
The free light shows will run nightly at 6:30 and 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 29; Sunday, October 30; and Monday, October 31.
"Our light shows started six years ago with the inspiration from the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland," said Steve Zipperman, who along with his wife Brooke has three young children. "It started out as some lights and a couple songs and has evolved into a 25-minute light show with characters, different themes from the Nightmare Before Christmas movie, bubbles and even snow."
Zipperman added, "The show has grown because we love seeing the smiling faces and the dancing kids every night. We have people that come to the house almost every evening and it makes us so happy," he said. "This year is a little scaled back at our temporary location at 1625 18th Street, but next year we will be back on Palm Ave with a whole new revamped show."
