Ring in the New Year in Manhattan Beach

Ready to ring in 2018 in style? Reserve a spot now at one of these New Year's Eve hot spots in Manhattan Beach:

Manhattan Beach Glowtide 5K: Start the night out with a fast kick at the Manhattan Beach New Year's Eve Glowtide 5K. This fast race starts out at the Manhattan Beach Pier at 5:30 p.m., continues north to the jetty at 45th Street, and returns, all under the light of holiday lights and glow sticks. All ages and abilities are welcome, barefoot is OK, track shoes are OK, baby joggers are OK - just come down and join the fun. This event is co-sponsored by DigMB and Manhattan Beach Confidential.

The Arthur J: In addition to the regular menu, The Arthur J will feature Crab Louis cocktail, (Alaskan king crab, jumbo lump crab, iceberg lettuce, avocado, and sauce Mary Rose), $22; 60 Day Dry-Aged Tomahawk, $175; The Arthur J's signature mac n' cheese with sweet Maine Lobster, $15; Beef Wellington, chicken mousseline, trumpet mushrooms, and truffle madeira sauce, $60; Diver Scallops with citrus beurre blanc, fennel and citrus salad, and smoked trout roe, $30; and Beef Bourguignon with potato puree, chantrelle mushroom, and pearl onion, $36. The restaurant will feature live music in the lounge area beginning at 9:30 p.m.

Fishing With Dynamite: In addition to the regular menu, Fishing with Dynamite will feature a Royal Oscietra Caviar supplement on oysters and clams, 1/2oz;$40; Fishing With Dynamite Cioppino with king crab, shrimp, PEI mussels, manila clams, squid, and grilled focaccia $24; Lobster tortellini with shellfish consommé, braised turnip and charred leek oil, $24; and Monkfish Saltimbocca with prosciutto, sage, caramelized fennel, whole grain mustard sauce $22.

Lido di Manhattan: In addition to a holiday a la carte menu, Lido will feature a special three-course celebration menu for New Year's Eve. The cost is $65 per person and includes a DJ, dancing, and a Champagne toast. The first course is a Lido Holiday Salad with mixed greens, pomegranate, honey roasted walnuts, and feta cheese crumbles. The second course is a choice of homemade cheese ravioli with vodka sauce, chicken marsala with roasted fingerling potatoes and green beans, wild salmon stuffed with shrimp and spinach with citrus cream sauce, or a charbroiled prime New York steak with scalloped potatoes and sauteed mushrooms. Dessert is a choice of homemade tiramisu or Kahlua infused bread pudding. Dining room seatings are 5:00/5:30 p.m and 7:00/7:30 p.m.; patio seatings are 6:00/6:30 p.m and 8:00/8:30 p.m.

Love & Salt - Manhattan Beach, CA: Chef Michael Fiorelli will offer Italian steakhouse classics in addition to the al a carte menu. Specials to include hearts of romaine Caesar salad, “Italian wedding soup,” Sonora wheat cavatelli alla vodka, and 14-oz peppercorn-crusted Flannery beef ribeye with cognac cream, baked parmesan rigatoni and wood-oven roasted broccolini. To drink? Sip on Dean Martin’s signature martini, "The Flame of Love" (Ketel One, fino sherry, flamed orange peels) and the “Drunken Samurai” (Suntory Toki Japanese whiskey, cognac, PX sherry, bitters). Hours: 4:30 p.m. — 11 p.m. (dinner service); bar open until midnight.

Manhattan House: Reserve a spot at Manhattan House for a New Year's Eve prix-fixe menu featuring an amuse course of grilled oysters with pecorino fennel. The first course is a choice of insalata di mare (Beluga clams, mussels, shrimp, and optional lobster for an additional $15); tortellini en brodo with mortadella mouse, chicken and beef stock, 36-month aged Parmigiana Reggiano (add black truffle for an additional $15); or salt roasted beet insalatina with sheep's milk ricotta, pistachios, and 25-year-old balsamic. The second course is a choice of agnolotti with celery root, brown butter, and 36-month aged Parmigiana Reggiano (add black truffle for an additional $15); pan-roasted turbot with cauliflower puree, basil oil, and fennel pollen (substitute scallops for an additional $15); or grilled Wagyu skirt bistecca with crispy fingerling potatoes, chanterelles, and red wine (add black truffle for an additional $15). Dessert is a choice of spumoni with walnuts and honey dates; or torta al ciocolatto with hazelnuts, mascarpone, and amaretto fudge sauce.

North Italia: Just around the corner at The Point in El Segundo, you can ring in the New Year at North Italia with a special New Year's Eve menu featuring two apertivi cocktails: Prosecco with sweet ruby grapefruit, splash campari; or Prosecco with fresh lemon, elderflower liquier, and a splash of aperol. The menu will feature a beef carpaccio starter, a King Crab risotto main course, and a ricotta panna cotta dessert.

Shade Hotel: Celebrate New Year's Eve starting at 8:00 p.m. at a Masquerade Ball at Shade Hotel with hors d'oeuvres, a dessert and coffee bar, gambling chips, DJs, complimentary masks, and a Champagne toast at midnight. Tickets for this 21+ event are $95, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the Richstone Family Charity and the Manhattan Beach Roundhouse Aquarium Revitalization Project. The Strand House: This year the Strand House is featuring a FROST New Year's Eve party, offering two seatings for a four-course dinner. The early seating will be between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m., featuring a live jazz trio, and will cost $100/person, with an optional $50 wine pairing, plus 20% tax and gratuity. A later 5-course dinner will offer seatings from 8:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and will feature a live Champagne toast and complimentary party favors at midnight. The cost is $150 per person, plus an optional $75 wine pairing, and 20% tax and gratuity. The StrandBar will be open with New Year's Eve specials and a $50 cover charge after 9:00 p.m.

For New Year's Day, special brunches of note include:

Manhattan Beach Post: MB Post will host its traditional New Year's Bangin' Brunch featuring caramelized banana bread pudding with toasted walnuts and brandy-butterscotch sauce, $8; Croque Madame with gruyere, ham, sunny egg and frisee, $15; chimichanga with pork, green chili, golden fertile egg, oaxacan cheese and potato, $13; and truffle honey laced fried chicken with kohlrabi slaw, $18.

True Food Kitchen: Over at The Point in El Segundo, True Food Kitchen will host a New Year's Day brunch featuring special beverages including pineapple and orange mimosa, cranberry and pomegranate mimosa, a scratch Bloody Mary, and matcha horchata. Featured foods include an egg sandwich with smashed avocado, manchego, and grilled turkey; smashed avocado toast with an organic sunny-side-up egg and smoked gouda; a vegetable garden scramble with optional sausage; and a vegan chorizo burrito.
