Café Pierre Returns for One Night 'Pop-Up'

Ready for some old-time Manhattan Beach nostalgia? Café Pierre, the longtime favorite French restaurant owned by Guy Gabriele, will return for one night with a special "pop-up" dinner at Love & Salt.

The June 5 dinner represents a collaboration among Gabriele, now a partner at Love & Salt; his daughter Sylvie Gabriele, owner of Love & Salt; and Love & Salt chef Michael Fiorelli.

The menu will feature classics from Café Pierre’s 37 years in Manhattan Beach. Cafe Pierre closed in 2014, after which the Gabriele family teamed up with Fiorelli to open Love & Salt.

The pop-up's four-course prix fixe menu, which is described as a "choose your own French adventure," will give guests the following options:

STARTERS (choice of)
Brandade Provencale: salt cod and potato puree, toasted bread crumbs, olive oil 
Foie Parfait: chicken liver mousse, pain d’epices, quince.
Duck Rillettes: cornichons, crostini.
Baked Goat Cheese Provencale: tapenade toast, market greens. 
 
SALADS (choice of)
Salade Verte: market salad, lemon chive vinaigrette
Frisée Salad: fiscalini farmstead cheddar, soft poached egg, pancetta. ​

ENTREES (choice of)
Halibut: garlic escargot butter, creamed swiss chard.
Moules Mariniere: white wine, garlic, onions, Italian parsley.
Steak au Poivre: cognac flamed peppered filet, pommes frites.
Filet Roquefort: roquefort green peppercorn sauce, pommes frites.
Poulet Moutarde: thyme lemon mustard pan jus, potato fleurettes, French green beans.
Lapin Chasseur: braised rabbit, house made gnocchi, portobello & wild mushrooms.

DESSERT (choice of)
Vanilla Brioche Bread Pudding with caramel sauce
Flourless Chocolate Cake with raspberry sauce
Lemon Tart

Dinner will be $85 per person, plus tax and tip. Seatings will begin at 5:30 p.m.; reservations can be made by calling the restaurant at (310) 545-5252.
