In Manhattan Beach, Sunday nights just wouldn't be the same without Concerts in the Park. The summer-long concert series is celebrating its 40th year this summer and has no signs of slowing down.
The free concerts begin on summer Sundays at 3:45 p.m. with a young local artist or band. At 5:00, the featured band takes the stage, with sounds ranging from rockabilly to Afro-Latin funk.
The concerts are popular with music enthusiasts and picnickers of all ages; attendees are urged to arrive early as the seats on the grass fill up quickly.
Three concerts remain in the summer series: The Doo-Wah Riders on August 19 (with local teen band Minor Problem as the opening act); the Blue Breeze Band on August 26 (with local teen band Pier Pressure); and Journey tribute band DSB on September 2 (with local teen band Chroma Haze).
The 2018 Manhattan Beach Concerts in the Park are presented by OneWest Bank.
