Manhattan Beach's newest hotel - the Westdrift Hotel - opened earlier this year to wide acclaim, and is now being recognized as a finalist in USA Today's Best New Hotels of 2018 list.
USA Today is taking votes from the public - you can vote once per day until January 7 - to choose the top ten hotels on the list. The top ten winners will be announced on January 18.
In its summary of the hotel's charms, USA Today cited its "laid-back California vibe" and "bright and airy guest rooms."
The Westdrift - formerly the Manhattan Beach Marriott - is the first Autograph Collection Hotel (owned by Marriott International) in the Los Angeles area. Set on 26 acres, it has 393 guest rooms and suites.
The hotel offers a 9-hole, par-3 golf course and an outdoor pool
flanked by cabanas and a CrossFit-inspired fitness center. An indoor-outdoor communal-focused restaurant named Jute Coastal Bar + Kitchen is headed up by classically trained Chef Octavio Sabado.
With more than 35,000 square feet of multi-faceted indoor-outdoor event space,
including 18 meeting rooms, a traditional ballroom and three
industrial-chic venues, Westdrift hosts a variety of events from special celebrations and weddings to corporate
retreats and tech conferences. Large gathering spaces include a 6,800-square foot lobby floor
ballroom and an 8,600 square-foot garden level event space.
