Andrew's Features Grilled Cheese and Beer Pairing

Mar 27, 2019 09:11PM ● By Jeanne Fratello
Ready to try something new? Expand your palate this weekend with a special Grilled Cheese and Beer Pairing event at Andrew's Cheese Shop in downtown Manhattan Beach.

The event - to be held at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 30 - will give guests the opportunity to try four varieties of grilled cheese and beers, along with a few extra treats. Tickets to the event are $60.

The tasting will begin with a farmers' market salad, followed by four courses of Andrew's  famous grilled cheeses. The grilled cheeses are paired with four specialty beers, which vary for each event but mostly include American and European craft beers. The evening concludes with a special dessert course of an Imperial stout float with French vanilla ice cream.

Want to host your own event? You can work with Andrew's to host your own private grilled cheese and beer pairing with friends. The per-person cost is the same, with a $700 minimum required. A "premium" option is also available for $70 per person - switching out one of the beers for sparkling wine and using super-premium beers for the others.

Andrew's Cheese Shop owner Andrew Steiner first fell "madly and passionately in love" with cheese while working as a waiter at Joachim Splichal’s renowned restaurant Patina. He was then  promoted to the position of Maitre d’Fromage, where he instituted the restaurant's popular cheese menu and cheese cart. Later, after 24 years of working in restaurants, he left the industry to start Andrew’s Cheese Shop, which opened August 2008 in Santa Monica. He opened the Manhattan Beach location (the second location) in late 2017.

One of the city’s most notable and personable cheese authorities, Steiner was a featured speaker at this year’s Los Angeles Magazine “The Food Event,” and has also appeared in such publications as the Los Angeles Times, Angeleno and Food & Wine.
