Thursday's fundraiser is a collaborative effort between the MBPD and California Pizza Kitchen to raise funds for the Soroptomist International of Manhattan Beach's
Breast Cancer Comfort Bags project.
As long as you show the flyer below (see the .pdf link at the bottom of this story) anytime on Thursday, 20 percent of your dine-in or take-out order will be donated to Soroptomist International of Manhattan Beach. (CPK is open from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.)
The Soroptomists' Breast Cancer Comfort Bags project delivers tote bags to patients undergoing treatment for breast cancer. The tote bags are filled with physical comfort
items as well as items to provide spiritual support. Each bag is valued at approximately $50. So far the group has distributed approximately 2000 bags to women attending chemotherapy
clinics in neighboring underserved areas.
The Manhattan Beach Police Department has gotten involved with the effort through its Pink Patch Project. The
Pink Patch Project is an innovative public awareness campaign to bring
attention to the fight against breast cancer and to support breast
cancer research organizations in combating this devastating disease. The
project is a collaborative effort between the Los Angeles County Police
Chiefs' Association and public safety agencies in Los Angeles County
and beyond.
Through the Pink Patch Project, these agencies work to combat
breast cancer by raising public awareness about the importance of early
detection in the fight against the disease and to raise funds for breast
cancer research and treatment.
The Manhattan Beach Police Department joined the Pink Patch Project in 2016. During October, Manhattan Beach police personnel wear a special pink Manhattan Beach Police patch as a reminder of the
department's dedication and commitment to this project.
On Thursday at California Pizza Kitchen, stop by MBPD's table to check out their new Pink Patch Project swag. (A photo of the swag with the price list is attached to this story.) The swag will also be available for sale at the Parking and Animal Control desk at MBPD.
100% of the profits from the merchandise sales go to breast cancer treatment, research, and education.
