Representatives from Beach Cities Optometry, the L.A. Kings, the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce, and the Manhattan Beach City Council celebrate the unveiling of a new mural in downtown Manhattan Beach.

Beach Cities Optometry, along with the L.A. Kings, unveiled a new Kings-themed mural in downtown Manhattan Beach on Wednesday.

The mural was the result of a collaboration between the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce, the Kings organization, and Beach Cities Optometry. The Kings were hoping to place a mural in Manhattan Beach, and the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce matched them with Beach Cities Optometry. Conveniently, the Beach Cities Optometry team are "huge Kings fans," who also happen to own their building at 1103 Highland Ave.

When the plan all came together, "it was as if it was meant to be," according to Kelly Stroman, president and CEO of the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce.

"We used to have a 'Go Kings Go' banner," added Dr. Rob Stahl of Beach Cities Optometry. "When Kelly told me they wanted a mural, we were all in."

On hand to celebrate the ribbon-cutting ceremony were representatives from Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce, Manhattan Beach City Council, the office of Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi, the office of L.A. County Supervisor Janice Hahn, and member of the L.A. Kings organization, including its mascot, Bailey.

"We're very lucky that people like Dr. Rob [Stahl] gave us the opportunity to do things like this today," said Kelly Cheeseman, COO of the L.A. Kings. "This moment is very special."

The L.A. Kings have a close affinity with Manhattan Beach and the other beach cities. Many players live locally, and the Kings organization supports many local causes.

Cheeseman added that the Kings were "definitely planning" on having another Stanley Cup victory parade come through town.

The mural was created by artist Shane Jessup along with Tim Cleary.
