Love & Salt to Launch Guest Chef Series

Jan 28, 2020 11:46AM ● By Jeanne Fratello
Love & Salt is bringing culinary star power to Manhattan Beach, as it launches its new Guest Chef Series with acclaimed chef Nancy Silverton.

The series will begin on February 3 and 4 with a four-course, fixed-price menu with Silverton at the helm.

There will be multiple selections available for each course, as well as an optional wine pairing. The meal will be $85 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are available at Love & Salt.

The partnership with Silverton came about because she is a longtime colleague and mentor to Love & Salt executive chef Chris Feldmeier.

"Nancy is Chris’ dear friend and mentor.  He worked with her for four years at Campanile and was the opening chef of Mozza for ten years. So he was the main man there for a long time," said Love & Salt owner Sylvie Gabriele.  "When he went on his own, they were very close. Chris really wanted her to be the chef to launch our Guest Chef Series given his relationship with her."

"I love Nancy. We've had a special relationship for over a decade from Campanile and Mozza through going out on my own," said Feldmeier. "She has been one of my biggest mentors, advocates, and dear friend. She taught me how to be an unrelenting professional, and yet that it is important and okay to have fun at the same time."

Silverton is the co-owner of Pizzeria Mozza in Los Angeles and Newport Beach as well as Osteria Mozza, Mozza2Go and chi SPACCA in Los Angeles. Silverton also founded the world renowned La Brea Bakery as well as the former Campanile Restaurant.

In 2014, she received the highest honor given by the James Beard Foundation for “Outstanding Chef.” That year, she was listed as one of the Most Innovative Women in Food and Drink by both Fortune and Food and Wine Magazines. She is the author of eight cookbooks including Desserts (1986), Breads from the La Brea Bakery (1996), Pastries from the La Brea Bakery (2000), Nancy Silverton’s Sandwich Book (2005), Twist of the Wrist (2007) and the Mozza Cookbook (2011).

In 2017, she was profiled on Netflix’s documentary series “Chef’s Table.”

Some of the menu selections for the Silverton dinner will include those pictured below: Bacon Burrata Toast, Nancy's Chopped Salad, and Ricotta Egg Ravioli.
