“Light Up the Beach Cities,” sponsored by Edison International, was a holiday decorating contest that invited local residents and businesses to
join a holiday decorating contest designed to raise critical funds to
support the Roundhouse Aquarium’s education programs on marine science.
All proceeds from the “Light Up the Beach Cities” fundraiser will benefit the Oceanographic Oceanographic Teaching Stations, Inc. (OTS), the non-profit that manages and operates the Roundhouse Aquarium and its science-based education programs on the ocean, tidelands and beaches.
Winners and runners up won shopping and dining prizes from local Manhattan Beach businesses. The grand prize was donated by the Manhattan Beach Farmer's Market and the Downtown Manhattan Beach Business and Professionals Association. The Oceanographic Teaching Stations Board of Directors donated the rest of the prizes for the event.
