The Neptunian Woman's Club of Manhattan Beach is covered in hearts, thanks to its recent "For the Love of Learning" fundraiser.
Through the fundraiser, community members ordered "hearts" in honor of loved ones or someone who inspired their love of learning. All proceeds from the $10 hearts went to support the Neptunian's scholarship fund for
Mira Costa High School and El Camino College students
with financial need.
The Neptunian's clubhouse, at 920 Highland Ave. in Manhattan Beach, is now covered in hearts and is quite a sight. (Consider strolling by with your Valentine this weekend?)
According to Heather de Roos, VP of fundraising for the Neptunians, the organization has raised $20K for scholarships so far this year, with about half coming from the "Love of Learning" fundraiser.
"We are still in the midst of
fundraising for as many dollars as we can for the students at Mira Costa
and El Camino in financial need," said de Roos. "Our Philanthropy Committee will
determine in April how many scholarships we can grant based on the final
amount we are able to raise."
The club welcomes donations to its scholarship fund at any time at http://neptunians.org/scholarship-fund/.
