Mira Costa Drama/Tech Presents 'Raise the Curtain'

Mar 20, 2021 01:43PM ● By Mb News Staff
Although Mira Costa High School's Drama/Tech program is known for lively and award-winning productions, this year has been a tough one.

The department has had to cancel two spring musicals because of the pandemic. In fact, the spring 2020 musical was well underway with much of the production cost already spent when the school had to shut the performance down.

So on Tuesday night, the department will present a virtual variety show called "Raise the Curtain," which will raise funds aimed at bringing back the program stronger than ever.

"Raise the Curtain" will stream live on Tuesday, March 23, at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available here..

Those who are not able to make the show are encouraged to purchase a ticket or make a donation.

"Found" Will Be Virtual Spring Musical

The Drama/Tech Department is also working on a virtual production to take place later this spring.

"Found," an original musical review, follows the journey of a cast and crew of Drama/Tech students who are "magically transported from the doldrums of their COVID lives to the bright lights of the Costa stage."

Curated from some of the most well-known musicals - including Annie, A Chorus Line, and Dear Evan Hansen - Found showcases a selection of hopeful songs tailored especially for this cast and filmed for streaming.

Show dates for Found are May 14, 15, and 21 at 7:00 p.m.; and May 22 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Tickets will be available in mid-April.
