Manhattan Beach Police to Hold DUI/Drivers' License Checkpoint

May 06, 2021 04:41PM ● By Mb News Staff
The Manhattan Beach Police Department will be conducting a DUI/driver’s license checkpoint on Friday May 7, from 8:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.

The purpose of the checkpoint is to promote public safety, increase the awareness of the dangers associated with drinking and driving, deter impaired driving and unlicensed driving, and encourage sober designated drivers.

By publicizing these educational and enforcement efforts, the Manhattan Beach Police Department believes that drinking and driving and driving while unlicensed will be reduced.

The department's “Zero Tolerance” approach to enforcement is meant to send a clear message to those who still don’t heed the warning to designate a sober driver before celebrations begin. According to the MBPD, "Simply put, if you are over the legal limit, you will be arrested."

The public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe by calling 911 if they see a suspected impaired driver.
