Mira Costa teams emerged victorious with season-capping wins over the weekend in boys' soccer, girls' beach volleyball, and boys' volleyball.

The Mira Costa boys' soccer team, which has been having a wildly successful season, won the CIF regional final on Saturday, beating Birmingham in overtime, 4-3.

It was a wild game of back-and-forth, with Birmingham scoring and Costa tying it up three different times, until Costa finally topped it off with a winning goal from Tanner Mendelsohn.

Tweeted the Los Angeles Times' sportswriter Eric Sondheimer after the game, "If USA loses to Mexico, I recommend sending in Mira Costa's top soccer players to help."

The Mira Costa girls' beach volleyball team clinched the IBVL (Interscholastic Beach Volleyball League) state championship title with a 3-0 victory over Redondo Beach. This is their fourth consecutive year of winning the state title. The team has logged over 120 wins without a loss.

The Mira Costa boys' volleyball team won their seventh CIF Southern Section Division 1 title by defeating Newport Harbor, 3-1, on Friday. The match scores were 25-14, 23-25, 25-13, 25-21.

The boys' volleyball team has its largest graduating class ever, with 18 seniors celebrating their last season at Costa.

Next up: the Mira Costa baseball team will face Orange Lutheran as the team continues pursuing the CIF Southern Section title on Tuesday. The team beat Foothill on Saturday in the first round of CIF playoffs.
