I love the Manhattan Beach Pier so much I just can’t quit photographing her.

For over 25 years (I moved here in 1996), I’ve snapped away at the historic, majestic icon, if not daily, then almost daily, even though the building rarely changes.

The time of day, seasons and the weather bring out new characteristics in that old Roundhouse that make it worth asking for just one more shot.

Take Friday, for instance. Those rare cloud sightings added a new dimension to the 101-year-old pier.

On this week’s episode of my travel photography series Photowalks, I invited central California photographer Charlotte “Ginger” DiNunzio to join me at the pier, to help explore the best ways to photograph in and around the pier. We also stop in to say hi to Eric Martin, the director of the Roundhouse Aquarium, for a quick tour.
