Celebrate Valentine's Day in Manhattan Beach

February 14th is just around the corner, which means it's time to start making your plans for Valentine's Day in Manhattan Beach.
This year you have a number of options ranging from special dinners, to gifts, to charitable donations. We've found a few great choices (and will add more as they are offered).

Dine in Manhattan Beach for Valentine's Day
Lido di Manhattan gives you two choices for Valentine's Day. There's a special Valentine's Day menu with festive menu items; there's a special Valentine's Weekend menu for two, available Friday, Saturday, and Monday ($120).
Manhattan House is usually closed on Mondays but they will be open for Valentine's Day, with regular menu items and select specials. Call 310-574-2277.
Manhattan Beach Post will have a prix fixe dining menu that will include its famous Bacon Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits (details to come). Reserve online here.
Mercado has a special three-course Valentine's Day dinner for two for $120 with guacamole or mushroom choriqueso; a "Surf and Turf tablita" with steak, lobster, mashed potatoes, and grilled asparagus; and choice of flan or tres leches cake. (The regular menu is also available.) Call 310-545-0388 to reserve.
Pancho's Restaurant is taking reservations for Valentine's day with the motto, "Forget the flowers; feed her taquitos." Who's to argue with that? Call 310-545-6670 for reservations.
Rice will be open from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Valentine's Day with a choice of two prix fixe four-course menus - "Ocean" (seafood), $69; or "Garden" (vegan), $49. Also includes a sparkling sake cocktail or strawberry mojito. Call 310-798-7722 to reserve.
Rock'n Fish has a prix fixe Valentine's Day dinner for $99.95 per person, with optional $30 wine pairing. The meal includes an amuse-bouche of sea bass ceviche; a frisee salad; mushroom risotto; surf & turf; and a chocolate mousse trio for dessert. Call 310-379-9900 to reserve or reserve here.
Shade Hotel has a prix fixe Valentine's Day dinner for $75 per person, with optional additional wine pairing. The meal begins with an amuse-bouche of lobster bisque; followed by a citrus strawberry salad; then a choice of halibut, surf & turf, or cauliflower steak; plus a special "Valentine's Trio" for dessert. Make a night of it and stay at Shade Hotel overnight (see details below). Reserve online here.
The Strand House has a prix fixe Valentine's Day dinner for $125 per person, with an optional $30 wine pairing. The meal includes an amuse-bouche of Kaluga caviar; a first course choice of red beet salad, cured bluefin tuna, or Puget Sound oysters; a second course choice of leek ravioli, seared tiger shrimp, or black-truffle stuffed Yukon potato; a third course choice of rack of lamb, duck a l'orange, Dover sole, wood-grilled honeynut squash, or prime cote de boeuf for two ($25 extra per person); followed by two Valentine's Day desserts. Tin Roof Bistro has a special Valentine's Weekend Dinner for Two menu, as well as Valentine's dinner to-go specials. The dinner for two ($200) features lobster bisque, beef Wellington, scalloped potatoes, roasted asparagus, and warm chocolate lava cakes. It can be eaten at the restaurant or ordered to go. Coterie A Cappella, Mira Costa High School's a cappella group, is offering Val-grams. You can send a video Val-gram to someone for just $5. Choose from among three songs: Just the Way You Are/Just a Dream; Love Story; or Put Your Records On. Lulu's Nouvelle will be having two special trunk shows. Maude and Nell Antique Jewelry will be displaying their jewels at a trunk show on Saturday, February 12 from noon until 5:00 p.m. On Valentine's Day, February 14, visit I Profumi di Firenze's special perfume trunk show from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
