Do you have thoughts on who Manhattan Beach's next police chief should be? Here's your chance to share your input.
The city of Manhattan Beach has
launched a statewide recruitment, led by executive search firm Ralph Andersen and Associates, to select the next chief of police for
the Manhattan Beach Police Department.
As part of the process, community members,
business owners, and residents are invited to submit input regarding the
desired qualifications and personal characteristics for the person who will hold the position.
Community input may be submitted
through February 27, 2022,
to [email protected].
“Engaging with the
community on the qualifications, skills, and attributes needed for the
next police chief is an important step in the recruitment and selection
process,” said City Manager Bruce Moe in a statement. “I am
confident this approach will assist me with valuable feedback as we
begin the process to evaluate and select highly qualified candidates for
this important leadership position.”
The first review of applications will occur the week of March 7, 2022,
and will be followed by what the city has called a "robust" selection process.
As Manhattan Beach searches for his replacement, recently retired Chief
Derrick Abell will remain in place at the helm of the police department as its interim chief.
