A blood drive will be held at the Manhattan Beach Farmers Market on Tuesday between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in honor of the late manager of The Strand House, Michael Morrisette.
Morrisette passed away last month after a 6-month battle with COVID.
Known "King of Hospitality," he was much beloved among co-workers, friends, and patrons of the restaurant.
According to colleagues, Morrisette had the rare, but universal blood type of O-, and it was often difficult
to find the supply he needed due to current blood shortages.
To give blood at the event, reservations are encouraged. (Editor's note: As of press time, the registration link appears to be down.) However, drop-ins will be welcome. All donors are required to wear a face mask.
The farmers' market is held at 13th and Morningside Ave. every Tuesday.
