You can help create a win-win for businesses and schools when you shop or dine in Manhattan Beach this week: During "Support Our Schools Week," select Manhattan Beach businesses are donating a percentage of sales to the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation (MBEF).

The specials will last throughout the week of March 21-26. Each business has identified specific dates and times that the give-back opportunities will be available.

The Manhattan Beach Education Foundation (MBEF) is a community-driven fundraising organization. It funds programs and also supplements state funding for programs that inspire and enrich academic excellence in Manhattan Beach's public schools. For the 2021/22 school year, MBEF funded $5.3 million in grants for programs in grades K-12.

During its most recent 2021-2022 Annual Appeal, MBEF raised $4.5 million. That amount is expected to be supplemented by proceeds from the Manhattan Wine Auction.

Last year's Manhattan Wine Auction was held virtually (for the second year in a row) and raised $800,000. This year's event will be held in person on June 4.
